HIGHLIGHTS
Day 01: up on arrival Addis Ababa Bole international Airport meet the J.H. SIMEX Tour and Travel representative for welcoming and transfer service to Intercontinental hotel for overnight.
Day 02: Drive to Kombolcha which is 374 KM on the way you are going to admire the hut of the Oromo people, the Spectacular view of the Gemas hill, Mussolini tunnels and have you lunch at Debre Sina and after noon proceed driving and stop at the place call Sembete to admire the color full market where you are going to see the Afar, Oromo and Argoba people in the market then drive to Kombolcha. Overnight Kombolcha.
Day03: Morning drive to Bati for Bati color full market where you are going to find the Oromo, Amhara, and the Afar people then back to Kombolcha for lunch and in the afternoon drive to Woldia which is 120Kms on the way you will have stop at the place called Wuchale where Minilik the 2 nd signed an agreement with the Italian government which causes the war between the Italians and Ethiopians then proceed to Woldia for Overnight.
Day 04: Early morning drive to Lalibela which is 180Kms on the way admire the Spectacular view of the landscape then arrive Laibela at lunch time then check in hotel then have lunch and in the afternoon visit the first group of Rock hewn churches which were constructed in the 12 Century by king Lalibela. Overnight in Lalibela.
Day05: Morning Mule trekking to Asheton Marian which takes around three hours for the round trip to visit the rock hewn semi monolithic church constructed by king Ne’akuto Le’ab then back to Lalibela for lunch in the hotel and after some rest visit the second group of Lalibela churches. Overnight in Lalibela.
Day06: Morning drive to Mekele which is around 270Kms through Maychew town where you pass by the chain of Ambalage mountain where the Italians fought with Menilik the 2nd for the first time then have your picnic lunch then then Visit the popular Muslim Shrines,
the tomb and the mosque of Ahmed Al Negash then drive to Mekele for overnight.
Day 07: Morning visit the Museum found inside Yohanis the 4 th palace then drive to Adigrat 120Km, on the way visit two Tigray rock hewn churches which were constructed in the 4 th Century A.D. these are Wukro Mariam and Abreha We-Atsbeha churches.. Overnight in Adigrat.
Day08: Morning drive to Axum which is 180 kms, on the way visit Debre Damo church (allowed only for men) which is the oldest and the most inaccessible monastery where you climb by rope that made by cattle skin and on the top you will see 150 rock houses for the hermits then proceed to Yeha to visit the Temple of Yeha in its ruins form constructed during the 5 th Century B.C . Overnight in Axum.
Day 09: After breakfast city tour in Axum which includes the palace and bath of the Queen of Sheba and the tomb of king Kaleb and Gebre Meskel who were kings during the 6 th century and in the afternoon visit the Stele compound, Saint Mary of Tsion church and the Archeological museum. Overnight in Axum.
Day10: Morning drive to Debark, which is 250 Kms, passing the Tekeze gorge and the Limalimo road enjoying the spectacular view and some stops for photo. Overnight in Debark.
Day 11: Drive to the Semien Mountains till the first camp site to admire the spectacular view of the Semien Mountains and endemic wild animals like Gelada Baboon, Walia Ibex, and Red fox then back to Debark for lunch and in the afternoon drive to Gondar, on the way visit the Felasha village (bete Israelis) and their hand crafts. Overnight in Gondar.
Day12: Half day visit the city of Gondar. The main attraction of the town is the royal enclosure, surrounded by a high stonewalls, and contains six castles, a complex of connecting tunnels and raised walkways, and several smaller buildings. The castles show a unique combination of Portuguese, Axumite and even Indian influences. The town is also best known for its fantastically decorated church of Debrebirhan Silasie. Then back to hotel for lunch and some rest then drive to Bahir Dar which is 180 Kms from Gondar, on the way enjoying the view of South Gondar plain. Overnight Bahir Dar.
Day13: Morning drive to the Blue Nile fall which is 30 Kms from Bahir Dar and also visit the 17 th Portuguese bridge then back to hotel for lunch and in the afternoon boat trip on lake Tana to visit the 3-4 island monasteries found on Lake Tana. Overnight in Bahir Dar.
Day14: Half day sightseeing of Bahir Dar which includes Market places and Bezait hill then back to hotel for lunch and in the afternoon proceeds to Debre Markos. Overnight in Debre Markos.
Day15: Drive to Addis passing the Blue Nile Gorge and visit the Debre Libanos Monastery then admiring plane land view on the way to Addis Ababa. Overnight in Intercontinental Addis hotel.
Day16: City tour which includes the national museum, Historical monuments in the city, Saint George church and the biggest market in Africa. Overnight in Intercontinental Addis hotel.
Day17: Departure.
